Lot Number: 688

Description: Negro Southern League Championship broadside c.1930s. Blank backed 6"x12" paper broadside advertises the Negro Southern League Championship game between the New Orleans Creoles and the Louisville Cubs. The game was to be played as part of a twilight double header at Louisville's Parkway Field and features an inset photo of Creoles female player Fabiola Wilson at the bottom. Interestingly, the Creoles would be the team that Hall of Fame Negro League executive Toni Stone would play for in the late 1940s. Condition is exemplary with minimal age wear. Sobering notation indicative of the times is printed at the bottom, "Reserved Section for White Patrons". Negro League Championship artifacts of any type are exceedingly rare and seldom offered to the collecting public. Includes letter of provenance from the Mitchell family: EX-MT
