Description: 1977 Joe Torre New York Mets auto. professional model home jersey. Home white knit pinstriped shirt features Mets lettering on front with player #9 on left breast and on back. Embroidered Mets logo patch appears on left sleeve. Rawlings tagging appears stitched on the right front tail noting size "44" with adjacent flag tag noting "Set 1 1977". A strip tag in the collar is embroidered "44/42 77 9". Torre has signed the front in black sharpie. Signature rates 8 out of 10. Shirt exhibits moderate usage wear and retains superb display quality. Jersey dates to Torre's last year in baseball as a player and his first as a manager. In May 1977, Joe Frazier, who had been the Mets' manager since the beginning of 1976, was fired, and Torre, who was playing third base for the Mets, was chosen as the replacement, thus serving as a player-manager.
