Description: Howard Ehmke single signed baseball attributed to Game 1 of the 1929 World Series. Barnard AL baseball is signed across the sweet spot by Howard Ehmke in fountain pen and dated "Oct 8, 1929". Signature and inscription rate 5 out of 10. The ball has every characteristic of game use including moderate soiling throughout and scattered abrasions and scuff marks from contact. The date of Oct 8, 1929 marked a virtuoso pitching performance from Howard Ehmke against the Chicago Cubs in game one of the World Series. Ehmke struck out 13 batters without giving up a single earned run in a complete game victory. Ehmke would pitch again in game five and combined with Rube Wahlberg to clinch the series and bring the Philadelphia Athletics a World Championship. Many historians still consider the 1929 A's to be the greatest team in baseball history. Includes LOA from JSA: Ball: VG-EX, Signature: EX
