Description: 1926 original photograph of Walter Johnson and Ty Cobb. 5 1/4"x7 3/4" original photo features crystal clear, vivid image of the two baseball immortals posing together in uniform. The photo is adhered to a rigid cardboard backing. Period writing on the back in pencil reads, "Feb. 26, 1926 Walter Johnson & Ty Cobb". The poignancy of this photo lies not only in the quality of the image, but in the fact that Johnson and Cobb, respectively considered the greatest pitcher and hitter of all-time, shared overlapping careers. In fact, Ty Cobb faced Johnson more times than any other batter-pitcher matchup in baseball history. Cobb also managed the first hit allowed in Johnson's career.
