Description: Early soft-shell leather football helmet c.1900. One of the earliest soft-shell styles weÆve seen has no visible manufacturerÆs markings. Its design includes a simple skull cap top with four tabs, much like a four spoke helmet, in which the ears are applied, as well as the back piece, and small 1" front piece, through which the exposed elastic band runs. Soft and supple with no tears, this very early and fragile helmet retains its original chinstrap. A relic from the earliest days of the soft-shell style helmet: VG-EX
