Lot Number: 700

Description: 1966 Woody Held Baltimore Orioles home jersey. Completely original and unaltered, this classic cream-colored flannel jersey retains its original "Orioles" team name across the front as well as #12 on the front and back. Original black felt lettering on the back reads “Held”. Wilson manufacturers tag noting size “40” is stitched on the front tail. "66-3" year and set designation is chain stitched onto a tag on the tail front as well with some deterioration to the top portion of tag. Teams of this era were typically issued two sets of home and road jerseys. The set 3 designation bolsters the provenance that this jersey was issued late in the season and intended for World Series play in 1966, though Held never saw action in the series. The shirt exhibits evident use with no significant structural faults other than minor fraying to the piping at the back of the collar, a few small holes, and the aforementioned set tag. Jersey originates from the collection of Paul Thiebaut, Sr. who was a scout for the Baltimore Baseball Club in the 1960s. Includes LOA from Hunt Auctions and letter of provenance from the Thiebaut family: EX
