Description: Incised ring decorated baseball bat in custom wood box c.1880s. Fine quality 34 ½” hand turned bat features incised dual rings and a singular ring on the barrel. Beautiful wood grain patterns are enhanced by original finish that appears largely undisturbed by minimal use. Pronounced lathe marks appear on both ends and a faint mark has been etched into the handle that reads “#5 Hiker & Son”. Bat is housed in custom wood box that bears a period shipping label on the lid in which it was found. Quality workmanship in an outstanding state of preservation: Bat: EX-MT, Box: VG-EX
