Description: Connie Mack studio photograph inscribed to Howard Ehmke. 7”x11” studio portrait was captured by photographer H.M. Wagner of Philadelphia. Crystal clear image shows a smiling Mack posing in a suit and tie. Photographer has signed the image in pencil and added an embossed studio stamp. Mack has added a lengthy inscription in the lower margin to A’s pitcher Howard Ehmke whom Mack managed from 1926-1930. Mack’s inscription reads, “To Howard Ehmke, whom I consider the greatest pitching artist of his day. Your pitching in the first game of the World Series of 1929 when you broke all records in striking out thirteen of the Cubs gave me the biggest thrill that will always be remembered by me. Connie Mack, December 23, 1932.” Mack’s writing rates 8 out of 10 in boldness. The image itself is striking in appearance and preserved in superb original condition.
