Description: ***UPDATED DESCRIPTION*** 1954 Joe Cronin Boston Red Sox coaches road jersey and pants. Road grey flannel shirt features Boston lettering in dark blue felt stitched across the front, with Cronin's #4 on back. McAuliffe manufacturer's tag remains on the front tail with Cronin's last name and year designation "54" chain stitched in blue above and below respectively. The jersey is completely original and unaltered, showing moderate usage wear consistent with Cronin's role as a Red Sox coach. A 2" separation at the seam in the right armpit and a missing button (second from bottom) are the only notable structural flaws. Accompanying the jersey are Cronin's 1952 grey Red Sox road pants. The pants feature tagging in the waistband that includes the McAuliffe manufacturer's tag (size 48), Cronin's full name in red chain stitching, and year designation "52" stitched in both the back and fly area. The pants show moderate usage wear with no significant flaws. Cronin, a seven-time All-Star as a player, became the first former player to serve as a League President (AL, 1959-73). His jersey number 4 was formally retired by the Red Sox on May 29, 1984. Includes LOA from Hunt Auctions and letter of provenance from Don Biernat: EX-MT
