Description: 1969 Thurman Munson New York Yankees rookie player contract. Inaugural contract issued to Munson for his first season as a New York Yankee in 1969. Issued for the modest total of $10,000, two page foldout contract is signed on the interior by Munson, Yankees General Manager L.MacPhail Jr., and American League President Joe Cronin. Signatures range from 9 to 10 out of 10 including a fine early Munson signature rating 10 out of 10. After playing in less than 100 Minor League contests, Thurman Munson was brought to the Yankees Major League club for the first of what would be eleven seasons with the Bronx Bombers. Although he played in just 26 games during the 1969 season, Munson's potential was clearly evident to the Yankees, who made him their starting catcher for the beginning of the 1970 campaign. Rare signed contract from one of the most desirable players of the 1960s-70s era. Includes LOA from JSA, original NY Yankees mailing envelope, and letter of provenance from Diana Munson: NM
