Description: Fine Bowie Kuhn 1971 Pittsburgh Pirates World Championship cufflinks. Pair of ornate cufflinks presented to Commissioner Kuhn in honor of the Pirates 1971 World Championship. Each cufflink features (10) diamonds inset on a black onyx field in the form of the Pirates letter "P". "Pirates World Champions" lettering surrounds the center area. Marked "Jostens 10K" on the reverse. The 1971 World Series was significant for baseball and for Bowie Kuhn's tenure as Commissioner as he orchestrated the first night game in World Series play. Game #4 between Baltimore and Pittsburgh was viewed by an estimated 61 million viewers on NBC. The introduction of night games marked baseball's resurgence during the 1970-80s era, particularly in relation to its marketing and revenue abilities.
