Description: Significant Bowie Kuhn Major League Baseball Commissioner ring. On February 4, 1969, Bowie Kent Kuhn became the fifth, and youngest, Commissioner of Major League Baseball at the age of 42. His tenure would last an impressive fifteen years during one of the most pivotal periods in baseball history. Like all Commissioners, Kuhn weathered his share of controversial events. Unlike many Commissioners, he remained true and consistent to his core beliefs, earning respect and admiration from many within the game including some of his most bitter opponents. Offered is the presentational ring given to Commissioner Kuhn in recognition of his service to Major League Baseball. Ornate ring features a nearly flawless solitaire diamond of ?approximately .83 carat weight in a crown setting, beneath which is the former "MLB" logo Kuhn helped design. "Commissioner of Baseball" lettering encircles the center area. "1969-1984" appears on one side panel above the American League logo, with "KUHN" lettering above the National League logo on the other panel. Interior ring band is inscribed, "Balfour 10K". As few men have ever served in the prestigious office of the Commissioner, the rarity and significance of such a piece is inherent. Very fine and unique presentational item with relation to one of the longest tenured executive figures of importance in Major League Baseball history. Size 11.5. Includes letter of provenance from the Kuhn family: NM
