Description: Rare "Base Ball Champions" wooden bread box c.1880s. Stunning softwood hinge lidded box from the Keebler-Weyl Baking Co., Philadelphia has large applied decorative baseball paper labels on the lid interior and box front. Each label depicts a batsman and catcher in full uniform with early equipment and a decorative border of ring bats and balls. Box itself has some general age wear incl. toning and retains wonderful original surface. Interior label retains very bold original color with some losses to the cream colored background. Exterior label on box front is toned from age with similar losses to the background while retaining fine general eye appeal. Overall size is an impressive 11" tall x 19" wide x 14" deep. One of only two exemplars of this highly desirable baseball antiquity that have been documented: VG-EX
