Description: Lot of (2) unique personal baseball journals from Bill McKechnie c.1947-48. Pair of diminutive pocket journals each measuring 2 1/2"x4" were compiled by Bill McKechnie while coaching with the Cleveland Indians. 1947 journal includes a full name McKechnie autograph in the front with numerous interior pages chronicling the Indians' 1947 season. Majority of entries simply state the Indians' opponents, scores, pitchers, and home runs: EX. The 1948 journal also has a full name McKechnie signature in the front. Journal entries again include opponents, pitchers, scores, and interestingly, the game attendance as owner Bill Veeck used gate figures in determining salaries for players and coaches: EX. Interesting pair of first person accounts written by the Indians coach during the famed 1948 pennant winning season.
