Description: Rare 1868 Ontario BBC carte de visite. Incredibly early mounted image of the Ontario baseball club from Oswego, NY, which was one of the more prominent teams of its type in the mid-19th century. The offered image pictures the team posed in bib front checkered uniforms with an "O" on the front. Players are identified in period ink on the back by name and position. Team name and date are also penned on the reverse along with stampings from Gray's photography gallery of Oswego, NY. Image quality remains strong with excellent contrast and clarity. The mount has some light wear to each of the corners and lightly written numerals are penned at the top margin corresponding to the player names on the reverse.
