Description: Fine 1972 Willie McCovey San Francisco Giants road jersey. Grey flannel jersey retaining its original team name on the front and #44 on the reverse. "McCovey" is chain stitched on the original strip tag inside the collar which exhibits appropriate fraying from use/wash wear. Wilson tag is affixed to the tail front along with "1972" chain stitched strip tag. Signed by McCovey in black sharpie across the front. Jersey itself shows evident use and wash wear including to the #44 on the reverse. Rare flannel style from the 1972 season as the Giants switched to knits for the second half of the year. McCovey easily ranks as one of the greatest players in Giants history having accumulated 521 career home runs and over 1,500 RBI's. McCovey spent all but three seasons of his 22 year career with the San Francisco Giants, where he began as the NL Rookie of the Year in 1959.
