Description: Figural baseball trophy c.1903. Highly ornate silverplated figural trophy features a 19th century style batsman flanked by arched supports holding a cup. The cup is inscribed, "Trophy Cup Encarita * Symposia Base Ball Clubs Best Three Out of Five Games Won By Encarita Base Ball Club". Painted wooden base has an applied silverplated placard with intaglio decor inscribed, "Feb 15, 22 Mar. 1, 1903". The wooden base has some age cracking and the trophy itself exhibits only minor surface wear. Based on the quality of the workmanship we believe it to have been made by the Pairpoint Co. in New York. 13" tall: EX
