Description: Rare Bernie Parent Toronto Maple Leafs hockey goalie's mask c.1971. During the first round of the 1971 NHL playoffs, the Toronto Maple Leafs were embroiled in a very tough series with the New York Rangers. In the second game of the series, there were several fights, one of which involving multiple players including the Leafs' Bernie Parent and the Rangers' Vic Hadfield. Hadfield took Parent's mask and tossed it into the crowd at Madison Square Garden. The offered mask is believed to be the exact mask that was thrown to a lucky New York fan during the 1971 playoff series. High quality fiberglass mask shows evident use incl. surface abrasions and general wear. Interior retains its original Cooper elastic/leather head strapping with interior face padding adhered to the mask itself. After the 1971 season, Parent would jump to the WHA until his return to the NHL with the Phila. Flyers several years later. Goalie masks are among the most prized of all offerings within the vintage hockey equipment category. The offered mask is one of only two that we have encountered in the open marketplace. Includes LOA from Robert Orsimarsi: EX
