Description: Superb 1873 Boston Base Ball Club team cabinet photograph. One of the cleanest examples of this highly desirable image picturing the 1873 champion Red Stockings in a vignette arrangement. Players are identified under their respective images incl. White, H.Wright, Spalding, G.Wright, and O'Rourke. Image quality remains notably strong with uncommonly good contrast. The back is stamped "Entered according to Act of Congress, in the year 1873 by Wilson & Co. in the office of the Librarian of Congress at Washington". The back has a light abrasion line at the top of the mount likely from scrapbook removal, which does not detract from the overall appearance and is mentioned for accuracy only. 3 1/2"x5". Deacon White played for Boston during their years as a 19th century powerhouse from 1873-1877. Unique opportunity to acquire a significant photographic piece which originated from one of its team members. Includes letter of provenance from the White family: EX-MT
