Description: Lot of (2) Utica BBC vs. Tecumseh trophy baseballs. Early figure eight style baseballs in period maroon paint have hand drawn gilt over red lettering listing the game scores and dates of Aug. 18, 1878 and May 22, 1878 (ball has period painted notation, 'Joe 3 Runs'). Overall condition is very fine retaining excellent original surface. The Utica club was a perennially strong team of the 19th century International League with origins dating back to the 1860s.
