Description: Rogers Hornsby professional model baseball bat with related materials c.1943-49. Louisville Slugger 125 model bat measures 36" long and weighs 34.8oz. Based on the dating, the bat is a coach's model used by Hornsby during the 1940s. Bat exhibits excellent use incl. ball marks, rack marks, cleat marks, and general surface wear. H117 model number is stamped on the end of the knob. Included with the bat are several items obtained by the original recipient while attending the Rogers Hornsby baseball academy in the 1940s. Additional items include Rogers Hornsby envelope sent to the camp attendee (secretarial signed), (2) original 8"x10" photographs of Hornsby at the camp, one of which pictures the attendee who obtained the bat, vintage newspaper article referencing the camp, and 1949 acceptance letter from the Veteran's Administration regarding the attendee's acceptance into the camp. One of the more thoroughly documented Hornsby professional model baseball bats that we have encountered.
