Description: Significant John Quinn 1934 U.S. All-Star Tour of Japan presentational album. Leather bound album presented to Quinn and the other Tour members with content relating to the trip. Album reads right to left per Japanese custom and retains its very scarce original leather cover with Japanese characters. Interior includes team autographed sheets for both the American and Japanese teams (two pages) with beautiful ink signatures. U.S. players include Ruth, Gehrig, Foxx, Mack, Gomez, Berg, Gehringer, and Averill. Signatures range from 9-10 out of 10. The page itself has some very minor soiling. Japanese players have signed on two different pages incl. Jimmy Horio who signed in English and Japanese and pitcher Victor Starffin. Remainder of the book contains a total of (24) original images taken during the Tour. Each photo measures 9"x11" and is mounted on cabinet mount stock album pages. Subjects include Ruth, Gehrig, Mack, U.S./Japanese teams, stadium views, and Ocean liner views. One image has a small corner chip and another has a tape repaired tear. The remainder of the photos remains very clean. The original leather cover has some abrasions, and the front cover has been professionally reinforced at the spine. One of only a handful of these treasured albums extant. In addition, the Quinn album is one of only two examples that we have handled that remains in original condition with the covers. Offered publicly for the first time directly by the Quinn family. Includes LOA from James Spence Authentication (autographs) and letter of provenance from the Quinn family: Autograph sheets: NM, Covers: Range VG, Interior photo pages: Range VG (only two images)-NM
