Description: Exquisite figural baseball music box attributed to the Wrigley family c.1920s. Ornate silverplated figural music box is composed of an oversized baseball shaped compartment atop a diamond shaped base with crossed bat decoration. The lid to the baseball compartment lifts to reveal a windup music box which plays "Take Me Out To The Ball Game". Craftsmanship is of the highest quality inclusive of intaglio decor etched throughout the surface of the piece. A script "W" is inscribed onto the front of the base, which is believed to represent the first initial of the Wrigley family. According to a letter of provenance (included) the piece was purchased from an estate of the Wrigley family and was attributed to have belonged to P.K. Wrigley. The music box remains in outstanding original condition and is in running order. Overall size is quite impressive measuring 11" long at the base: EX/MT-NM
