Description: Rare 1938 New York Yankees American League Champions banner. Huge 45"x93" felt banner originally hung in the famed Commodore Hotel in New York in honor of the AL Champion Yankees. The Commodore Hotel frequently hosted celebratory events in honor of the Yankees at which these banners can be seen in photographs of the period. The banner is a of a very high quality with applied lettering retaining fine original color and surface. Overall condition remains very strong with a few minor moth holes to several areas, none of which detract from the general appearance. Obtained directly from the Commodore Hotel at a sale of its properties and has not been previously offered to the collecting public.
