Description: Significant February 28, 1936 Joe DiMaggio photograph. Joe DiMaggio's personal copy of this rare original image pictures him wearing a New York Yankees uniform for the first time. The image was taken at Spring Training in late February as Yankees manager Joe McCarthy had asked DiMaggio to come in early to camp for fear that entering to a full squad would intimidate the young player. The photo pictures DiMaggio batting and has some horizontal surface wrinkling. Reverse of the photo retains its original paper ID label which is dated and compares DiMaggio to Babe Ruth. The offered image is the earliest that we have encountered of DiMaggio in a Yankees uniform. 7"x9": EX
