Description: Significant May 24, 1943 Final Ball used in the War Bond Game played at Washington, D.C. Wm. Harridge American League baseball exhibiting evident use, including some appropriate scuffing and a small grass stain, was the final out baseball for the historic May 1943 War Bond game played at Griffith Stadium in Washington D.C. The side panel of the ball is inscribed in period ink, "Last Ball $2,100,000 Bond Game Washington, D.C." The game was played before a crowd of 29,221 fans to benefit the U.S. Treasury war fund generating a record amount of nearly $2,100,000. Several notable celebrities also made an appearance in conjunction with the game including Bing Crosby, Kate Smith, and Babe Ruth.
