Description: Joe DiMaggio's 1950 Tour of Japan presentational album. Ornate embroidered Japanese silk covers adorn this presentational photo album given to DiMaggio in commemoration of the 1950 Tour of Japan. Book measures 11"x13" and is inscribed on the interior title page, "To Mr. Joe DiMaggio presented by Yomiuri Shinbun Nov. 1950". Interior includes (29) original 7"x9" black and white photographs taken during the Tour with all manner of subjects including DiMaggio batting, DiMaggio with Lefty O'Doul, Japanese players, DiMaggio in various outdoor Japanese settings with fans, and a very fine panoramic photograph (foldout) measuring 7"x34" picturing DiMaggio batting in front of thousands of Japanese fans. The album and interior images remain in nearly pristine original condition with superb clarity and contrast. Uncommon tour album with exceptioal pedigree having belonged to the primary tour participant. Includes its original lidded wooden case: NM
