Description: Elbie Fletcher game worn baseman's mitt c.1930s-40s. LHT model first baseman's mitt as used by former Red Sox and Pirates player Elbie Fletcher. The glove exhibits heavy usage including restitched backstrap and well worn interior pocket. Manufacturer tag is missing but resembles a Rawlings style tag. The glove was obtained directly by the consignor from Fletcher and includes two handwritten letters of provenance from Fletcher. In one of the letters Fletcher states, "..in getting the glove (the last of its kind)" indicating he had only the offered example left in his collection. Fletcher was a solid (12) year Major League veteran who appeared in one All-Star game and ended his career with a .993 fielding average: VG
