Description: Rare Rogers Hornsby professional model baseball bat c.1927. Louisville Slugger 125 model bat measures 35" long and weighs 39.8oz. The bat exhibits strong usage including ball marks, cleat marks, handle/barrel wear, and rack marks. The end of the knob has a few minor chips and the back of the barrel has some minor deadwood, neither of which affect the appearance of the bat. The bat was obtained directly by the consignor from Rogers Hornsby in 1927 at the Polo Grounds. Hornsby is universally hailed as one of the finest hitters in Major League history with a career spanning (23) years, primarily with the St. Louis Cardinals. With respect to provenance and dating period, the offered bat is among the finest Hornsby exemplars known to exist.
