Description: 1918 Boston Red Sox team auto. baseball attributed to the 1918 World Series. Toned B.Johnson AL baseball is signed by approx. (25) members of the World Champion Red Sox incl. Ruth, Barrow, Strunk, Mays, Schang, Jones, and Shean. The signature of Hack Miller appears to have some period enhancement to the ink. The signatures range from 1-5 out of 10. The Ruth signature is signed in the style of his early playing career and remains one of the strongest on the ball rating 3/4 out of 10. The sweet spot of the ball has a period ink inscription, "From ? , To Elmer, World Series 1918". The ball was originally obtained by a gentleman (pictured) who acquired it at the age of 7 while attending one of the 1918 World Series games. According to family history, the ball was used in game play. The 1918 Red Sox World Championship would end up being their last until the 2004 team finally broke the fabled Curse of the Bambino. 1918 Red Sox team signed baseballs are virtually non existent and to our knowledge the offered example is the first with World Series attribution to have become available to the public. Includes LOA from James Spence Authentication and a letter of provenance from the family: Ball: VG-EX, Signatures: Range PR-VG
