Description: Tris Speaker's 1910 "Throwing Distance" trophy from Doc Powers Day. Silverplated two handled trophy featuring 2 +ö applied medallion depicting the AÆs former catcher Doc Powers with a large blue and white enamelwork pennant with the A's elephant logo above. Powers had passed away in 1909 and the benefit game with individual contests was held on June 30, 1910 with numerous star players participating incl. Tris Speaker who won the offered trophy for "Second Place Throwing Long Distance" which is engraved on the back of the cup. Marked Calwell & Co, Phila. on the base. 5 1/2" tall with some general light wear incl. a small ding on one panel: EX
