Lot Number: 1165

Description: Curt Schilling's Subpoena to testify before Congress regarding the use of performance enhancing drugs. Original March 9, 2005 subpoena issued by the House of Representatives which was sent to Curt Schilling to testify on the matter of steroid use within Major League Baseball. The one page typed subpoena called for Schilling's appearance in Washington on March 17, 2005 at which Schilling, along with several other Major League players, participated in an historic hearing on the issue of performance enhancing drugs and their effect on baseball. Through candid testimony, heightened public awareness, and a new tougher drug policy within Major League Baseball, it may finally be a reality that the use of these drugs, especially among young high school athletes, will begin to decline. The entire proceeds from the sale of this subpoena will be donated to two charities endorsed by Curt and Shonda Schilling: "Curt's Pitch for ALS" which aids in the fight against ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) and the "SHADE Foundation of America" which benefits the fight against melanoma. The lot also includes a Curt Schilling auto. 8"x10" color photograph: NM
