Description: Ty Cobb and Tris Speaker related autographed letters. Interesting pair of handwritten and autographed documents relating to the two HOF outfielders who were also very close personal friends. Includes Sept. 6, 1933 handwritten letter from Ty Cobb in response to an inquiry (written on the reverse) soliciting his opinion on the greatest fielding outfielder. Cobb responds that Tris Speaker was the best and gives several supporting details as to why he felt that way including a comparison to Harry Hooper. Letter is written and signed in black ink rating 9 out of 10. Lot also includes a Tris Speaker handwritten response to a Sporting News questionnaire seeking to identify the greatest player of all time, to which Speaker stated Ty Cobb. The content and signature are both in bold green ink rating 9 out of 10. Very appealing pair of HOF autographed items from the two friends who were even investigated as having been part of a baseball gambling scandal during the 1920's.
