Description: Fine 1909 Detroit Tigers team panoramic photograph. Sepia tone image of the American League Champion Tigers taken before the 1909 World Series against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Players are lined up on the field in full uniform incl. Cobb, Jones, Donovan, Stanage, Crawford, Jennings, and Bush. Titled "American League Champions 1909" at the bottom margin and marked "Photographed for the Index" at bottom left. Image size is 8"x30" framed with the photo remaining in superb original condition with flawless contrast and clarity. The offered image is the original that was used in the creation of the well known 1909 World Series panoramic supplement issued by the Pittsburgh newspaper "The Index" (see Lot # ) and to our knowledge is the only documented original image to have been offered at auction: NM
