Description: Ty Cobb auto. photograph. Desirable signed bookplate image of Cobb's famed sliding photograph as captured by noted photographer Charles Conlon. The image measures 6" square and has been signed at the top left by Cobb in black ink rating 9 out of 10. Interestingly, the reverse has handwritten ink notations by Cobb that describe the play in which he violently slid into third baseman Jimmy Austin. He writes, "Jimmy Austin 3rd base, 1st & 3rd are a sacrifice, NY Highlanders Park, was a high throw from 1st base, Austin was coming down, my feet on ground". Cobb autographed exemplars of this particular image are notably rare and very highly desired with note to the handwritten notations by Cobb on the reverse.
