Description: Babe Ruth radio by Abbotwares c. 1940's. Pot metal bust of Ruth flanked by two ball finials with lifetime statistics finished in a bronze plated surface. Base appears to be a base from an Abbotwares "Horse/Cowboy" radio which was a similar piece produced by the company at the time of the Ruth clock issue. This radio was obtained at a baseball game in 1948 in the Midwest and it is unclear whether the pieces were assembled at the factory or "married" together at a later date but based upon the interior construction and the placement of the finials on the base we must conclude that it is at best a factory marriage.
