Description: 1888 Chicago Ball Club cabinet photograph by Joseph Hall. Studio image of the White Sox featuring Cap Anson, Jimmy Ryan, and George Van Haltren retaining original contrast and clarity. Image has a crease on left side and mount has three small chips which could be easily restored. Chicago was the runner up to the mighty Giants in 1888 by nine games, ironic placement of an African American mascot resting his arm on the knee of the outspoken Cap Anson who was an instrumental early figure in the suppression of the allowance of minority players in the Major Leagues: VG/EX-EX
