Description: Fine 1931 Tour of Japan U.S. All-Star team auto. photograph. Original 4 1/2"x6 1/2" sepia tone image of the U.S. team posed on the deck of a ship in Tokyo signed by each member of the team. Players include Maranville, Kelly, Grove, Simmons, Cochrane, O'Doul, Frisch, Kamm, and Lou Gehrig. Signature are in several different ink colors and remain in near original condition ranging from 8-10 out of 10. Photo is very clean with a tiny border tear at bottom right edge and a few minor surface wrinkles. While the 1931 team was certainly not the first to travel to Japan it was, at that point, the most star studded with seven future HOF'ers including Lou Gehrig. Unlike the more notable 1934 Tour team relatively few 1931 Tour items of quality become available to the collecting public.
