Description: 1884 A.G. Spalding auto. typed letter. Typed letter on attractive Spalding Sporting Goods Co. letterhead sent to Harry Wright in Philadelphia. Content is very interesting pertaining to Spalding and Wright attempting to keep a player (Gross) from going over to the Union Association. Spalding at one point calls other League by the name of "our Union Wreckers." Signed at the bottom in black ink, "A.G. Spalding". Signature remains quite dark rating 8 out of 10 but has some light to moderate 'bleeding' to the ink in a few areas. Letter has original foiled lines otherwise remains very clean throughout. "A.G. Spalding Chicago 2-16-84" signed on back in period ink constituting another Spalding autograph. Rare baseball historical document with two scarce signatures of the baseball pioneer.
