Description:Jack Onslow game worn catcher's mitt c.1910-20. Enormous 11 1/2" tall catcher's mitt with reinforced interior pocket. Back of glove shows enormous usage wear with a large piece of reinforced leather applied for support. Onslow was a catcher who played for the Tigers and Giants but most notably was Babe Ruth's first catcher at Providence when Ruth pitched for the first time. It is very likely given the dating of this mitt and the usage wear that this glove caught a Ruth fastball at some point in its life. Includes letter of provenance from Onslow family: VG
