Description: Important Rube Walberg 1929 Philadelphia Athletics World Series ring. Handsome 14K gold ring presented to Walberg as a member of the World Champion Phila. Athletics. Body of the ring has the trademark elephant mascot holding a diamond solitaire in its trunk. Globe shaped emblem next to diamond is worn from age with "Champions" inscribed on front. Indiscernible hallmark is stamped inside interior rig band which also has "George Walberg" engraved inside. Ring shows moderate overall usage wear and has a tiny area on base of ring band that has been resized. The 1929 Athletics are regarded by may notable baseball historians to be the finest team in baseball history with a record of 104 wins against just 46 losses to outpace the Yankees by 18 games. They also proceeded to crush a fine Chicago Cubs team in the World Series having (5) future HOF members in the lineup and the greatest manager in the history of baseball, Connie Mack, on the bench. Walberg was an integral part of the 1929 A's success finishing with a record of 18-11.
