Description: Bucky Walters 1939 Player of the Year Award. Prestigious personal award presented to Walters for his stellar 1939 season by the New York Chapter of the Baseball Writers Association. Award consists of a 13"x17" mahogany plaque with an ornate silverplated 8"x14" placard on the front with an image of Walters and a stadium in the background. Under the main plaque is a small silverplated placard that reads "Player of the Year 1939 Award". Plaque remains in fine original condition and retains its Dieges & Clust mfg. tag on the back. Very significant and seldom offered type of personal player award directly from one of the top pitchers of his era. Includes letter of provenance from the Walters family and a period newspaper photo picturing Walters with the award: EX-EX/MT
