Description: Rare large German bisque porcelain baseball batsman figurine c.1880's. Exceedingly rare 16" tall hand painted figurine of a 19th century batter with bat in hands ready for the pitch. Craftsmanship is of the highest quality retaining its original surface and colorful paint. Stamped under the base "Geshuetzt Gesetzlich". Has some restoration at the neck from a repaired crack and some inpainting to the collar area and right arm. Bat is not original (common for this piece).
