Description: Christy Mathewson "Fad-A-Way" baseball gum box with period baseball gum balls c.1915-20. Red papered fiberboard hinge lid box features an interior color label picturing Christy Mathewson throwing his famous 'fad-a-way' pitch. Marked American Chicle Co. on lid. Box is filled with the original period (original to this issue but did not originate with this particular box) baseball shaped gumballs having various scoring on the side. Box has had some inpainting to touch in some abrasions and the original glass display lid is missing. Handsome display piece: EX
