Description: Significant Roy Campanella 1955 World Series game worn catcher's mitt. Wilson Roy Campanella signature model catcher's mitt with original sling shot rolled top web and deep pocket with no break action. Back of glove is missing the Wilson tag and also missing the lacings to the backstrap. The offered glove was a special order piece as several of the features were non catalogue issue and the Campanella fasc. signature stamping on the glove was first introduced in the fall of 1955 for the 1956 catalogue. The glove was given to Clem Labine directly by Campanella after the 1955 World Series to which Clem was told, "...use this to warm up those catchers during winter ball...". To our knowledge there are three Roy Campanella game worn gloves of quality and given the dating, World Series usage, and nearly unimproveable provenance the offered example is very likely the finest known. Includes LOA from SCD Authentic David Bushing/Dan Knoll, letter of provenance from Clem Labine, and photo of Campanella wearing a similar glove: VG-EX
