Description: Fine Roberto Clemente auto. large format photograph. Rare 11"x14" black and white image of Clemente hitting his 3,000th hit off of the Mets John Matlack on September 30, 1972. The hit was also, tragically, the last regular season hit of his career. Photo has been signed to the left of Clemente, "To Doc and my 3,000 hits Best Wishes Roberto Clemente". Blue ink salutation and signature rates 9 out of 10, photo has some light age toning at bottom edge. One of the finest Clemente autographed photos extant with regard to size, condition, subject, and provenance. Lot also includes (3) original black and white 8"x10" photograph from the 3,000th hit game and miniature souvenir bat.
