Lot Number: 409

Description: 1941 American League All-Star team auto. baseball. This is no less than an artifact of a classic season in baseball history and one of the most exciting All-Star Games of all time. Two of the signatories on this ball achieved as yet unequaled feats in that very season: Joe DiMaggio hit in an amazing 56 consecutive games and Ted Williams became the last man to hit over .400 (he actually hit .406). In the game itself, in the bottom of the ninth inning with the American League down by a run, two men on base, and two out, Williams came to the plate and smacked a walk-off homer to win the game 7-5. A total of 31 members of the American League squad signed this white Harridge Official American League ball at the game in early July 1941 in green fountain pen ink including Williams, DiMaggio, Cronin, Doerr, Foxx, Dickey, Appling, Feller, Boudreau, and Ruffing. Sigs range from 7-9 out of 10, one of the rarest of all All-Star team balls. Includes LOA from PSA/DNA J. Spence-S.Grad: EX-MT

Estimated Price: ($5,000.00-$7,000.00)
