Description: Superb Roy Campanella autographed photograph c.1948-49. Striking 8"x10" matted and framed black and white portrait of Roy in Dodgers uniform taken by photographer Cecil Layne. Layne was a highly regarded African-American photographer who did a great deal of work for the NAACP including a famous posed image of the Little Rock Nine with Daisy Bates which is now housed in the Library of Congress. Image is boldly signed, "Best Wishes Roy Campanella" rating 9 out of 10. Photo itself is very clean with only some minor surface wrinkling. With regard to scarcity of pre-accident Campanella signed images and given the condition, photographic quality, and size of the offered image it would have to be considered among the finest Campanella signed photos extant.
