Description: Roy Campanella game worn catcher's mitt c.1940-50's. Very high quality RHT Rawlings "Special" model glove showing heavy game usage wear. Retains orig. Rawlings label on back of glove (toned) and has been re-laced (in the period, most likely by Campanella). Back of glove remains intact with a few abrasions to the leather surface, interior shows typical usage wear incl. toning. On the back of glove is written "O'Hara" with relation to William O'Hara who served as Roy Campanella's personal attorney for many years. Mr. O'Hara had originally received the glove from Roy and many years later returned it to Campanella as Roy did not have any others from his playing career. Campanella is regarded as one of the finest fielding catcher's in baseball history dominating the era in which he played at his position.
