Description: Significant Roy Campanella 1955 National League Most Valuable Player Award. But as any Brooklyn loyalist will state 1955 was not just another year, the Dodgers managed to finally break through against the Yankees in the World Series capturing their first World Championship due in large part to Roy Campanella's regular season and World Series performance. The offered award was presented to Roy Campanella in honor of his 1955 MVP season with the Dodgers which was his third title in five years. Original black painted wooden plaque measures 16" in diameter with original surface. Applied to the front is octagonal sterling silver placard with 10K gold K.Landis bust vignette, Roy Campanella nameplate, and 1955 year plate. Front is stamped "Sterling Dieges & Clust" at lower right, back of plaque retains original Dieges & Clust metal tag and original brass ringlet for wall mounting. Very clean overall with some very minor paint flaking on edge and a few tiny surface nicks to the silver facade.
